The Combined Counties Football League
is a regional English football league currently
comprising teams from Berkshire, Greater London,
Hampshire, and Surrey. Its top division sits at Step 5
of the National League System (or level 9 of the overall
English football league system).

DIRECTIONS Badshot Lea is about two and a half miles
north east of Farnham, Surrey.. The club is based at
three locations Badshot Lea Sports Ground, behind "The
Green" at Badshot Lea, Farnham (Mens and some youth
football) Weybourne Rec, behind Weybourne Village Hall
and Cannons on Weybourne Road, Farnham (all the
training, colts and some of the youth football) Traco
Club (Aldershot Traction Sports Club), Weybourne Road,
Aldershot

Early history suggests that the village football club
was formed in 1904, after a meeting at the local village
hall. They initially played friendly matches before
deciding that they affiliate to Surrey County Football
Association in 1907.They began life in the junior
leagues in the county before gradually progressing
through the years. The most recent history shows The Lea
playing in the Aldershot leagues and progressing through
the various divisions, eventually obtaining promotion to
the Surrey INTER League Western in 1978. Progress
through the three divisions saw The Lea eventually
promoted to the Surrey Premier League in 1986. This was
for one year only as Badshot Lea F.C. obtained the
dubious distinction of being relegated with the highest
points total ever achieved for a side being relegated.
Season 1988 saw Badshot Lea F.C. again in the Surrey
INTER League Western. The ensuing years saw the ups and
downs that one experiences until season 2002/03 which
saw eventual promotion to Senior Football via The
Hellenic League. This was not without its problems
though. The FA at Soho Square tried to block the move
and it was only with the full backing of The Hellenic
League and the determination of the committee at The
Lea, which eventually saw The Lea given the green light. |
